Welcome to Queens—Where every direction leads up
With classrooms brimming with so much experience they could double as board rooms, access to leading healthcare providers in the Carolinas a few blocks away, and sell out shows and renowned guest speakers routinely bringing all of Charlotte to QUC, there’s only one thing we’re missing: You.
LEARNING AT QUEENS
The Queens Path
Queens University of Charlotte will prepare you to think critically, learn from experience, and apply insights to the challenges of an ever-changing world. We are committed to helping you—no matter your major—develop five attributes that prepare you to be as engaged and active in your community as you are in your career. With every course and every learning experience in and out of the classroom, we prepare you to step up. Together, we rise.
Our Path:
• Civic engagement in classes
• Unique and creative general education program
• Life-changing study abroad, with funding provided
• Internship courses for every student
• Faculty mentorship
Along the Queens Path, we will help you develop five attributes—ways of thinking and being that are deeply relevant to your work and civic lives. Queens graduates are:
• Honorably connected
Who we are is every bit as important as what we do. We will seek to foster integrity, compassion, and ethical responsibility in you, and provide opportunities to enact these values. In all that we do, we strive to live by our motto, “Not to be served, but to serve,” and in turn, raise up those around us.
• Intellectually agile
Whether through our General Education program focused on how you think or through courses in your chosen major, you will be challenged at Queens to think creatively when faced with new situations and ideas, account for and incorporate alternate perspectives, and put together existing ideas in new ways.
• Civically engaged
Our proximity to everything Charlotte has to offer will provide you with unique opportunities to cultivate a deeper level of civic engagement that prepares you to be more informed, knowledgeable, and an active member of your community.
• Professionally prepared
With internship opportunities integrated right into the curriculum, you will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to flourish in professional settings and possess the initiative needed to positively contribute to any environment.
• Globally informed
By making study abroad opportunities a natural part of the college experience, you can literally rise and shine across the globe—demonstrating the intercultural competence, humility, and confidence necessary to skillfully navigate the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly connected and diverse world.
LIFE AT QUEENS
A day in the life of a Royal.
In short, Queens is an exciting place to be. Students and staff know each other’s names. There are plenty of on-campus events and Royals like it here so much that they take advantage of every activity we have to offer.
Kickstart your college social life.
Bond over stuff you love with people you’ll grow to love. Pick from one of our 35+ clubs and organizations that are dedicated to all kinds of interests from dodgeball, to dance, to music therapy, to riding horses, to volleyball, and just about everything in between. If you’d prefer to carve out a niche of your own, feel free to start a new club!
We live not to be served, but to serve.
One of the ways we encourage students to make the most of our central location is by actively engaging in service opportunities. This helps support everything from elementary schools, to the healthcare industry, to secure housing, and more.
Because wherever there are gaps in our community’s needs, Royals rise to fill them. And it’s not just our community that benefits. This form of experiential learning helps students develop deeper compassion, diverse experiences, and new perspectives that last a lifetime.
Royals rise to D1 competition.
Queens is home to athletes of all levels, including intramural, club, Olympians, Paralympians, and D1 athletes (part of the ASUN Division 1 Conference). Our student athletes have won a lot of national championships—and we’re just getting started.
