All About UM-Flint
UM-Flint students earn a world-recognized University of Michigan degree on a small, supportive campus of just over 6,000 students. 94% of our classes have 30 students or less, about the same size as a typical high school class.
We offer more than 75 in-demand bachelor’s degree programs across five schools and colleges: the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Management, College of Health Sciences, School of Nursing, and College of Innovation & Technology.
Through our 100+ student organizations, students will find a community in which to grow and connect. Future politician? Hone your skills in Student Government. Passionate writer? Tell the real story in The Michigan Times newspaper. Sports fanatic? Build your team with club sports. Whatever your passion, there is a student club that allows you to celebrate your authentic self with a like-minded group of students.
UM-Flint is one of the most affordable colleges in Michigan, offering the third-lowest tuition and second-lowest housing cost among public universities. We offer a wide range of merit scholarships and need-based financial aid, including the Go Blue Guarantee, which covers the full cost of tuition for qualified students for up to four years.
Downtown Flint is a thriving community with an energy and flavor all its own. The business and cultural capital of Mid-Michigan, the downtown neighborhood hosts many unique cultural resources, from the Flint Institute of Arts and the Sloan Museum of Discovery, to the Flint Farmers’ Market and other locally owned restaurants and shops. Our community takes pride in its strong history and reputation for attracting, cultivating, and recognizing “doers”—resilient individuals who aren’t afraid to take initiative and make the world a better place.
There are many ways to get involved during your time at the University of Michigan–Flint. We encourage you to join or start a student club/organization, become a member of a fraternity or sorority, attend a program sponsored by the Center for Gender & Sexuality or the Intercultural Center, participate in a program sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), or play in a club sport.
The work of Student Involvement & Leadership (SIL) is about learning, engagement, and inclusion. Our goal is to offer opportunities for students to:
• Become engaged and responsible leaders
• Develop life skills and an understanding of one’s values, interests, and goals
• Think critically and creatively, solve problems and develop new ideas
• Be inclusive of people with various identities and perspectives, while embracing a diverse campus community
